Karen Rand Anderson

mixed media sculptures, assemblage, painting

Karen Becker Benedetti

The layers in my art are like the fragments and layers of my life, that together, form my voice, the voice of the artist.

Susan Boyes

Mary Alice Braukman

A PAINTER’S WORK IS HIS DIARY…JOURNEY.
As a water media artist, my life experiences become filtered in my eye, mind, and heart. They are then transformed into my paintings…of joy and passion and adventure and reflection. My paintings are of a myriad of techniques — layering of media and colors, and collage, or an assemblage. I am not afraid of color or texture. I want the viewer to crawl into my work and walk through each step of motion or intensity or serenity.

Sue Burke Harrington

Ann Carstensen

Claudia Chapline

My paintings are influenced by Asian and Native American ways of thinking about art and life. My intention is that the viewer may enter a spiritual place, a place of healing through the physical medium of the painting. The flat circle on the wall acts like a porthole to the subconscious. It is a window into the spiritual dimension.

Patricia Cole–Ferullo, SLMM, ISEA

My work expresses an inner vision of reality; the invisible made visible through the process of layering color, texture, form, and line. I play intuitively with the elements, to create emotionally motivated images, originating somewhere between observation and knowing.

Gale Craig

I see in the Universe a mystical world of flowing energies. It is the essence of this spiritual energy and its beautiful vibrant colors that inspire my paintings.

Meinrad Craighead

Valaida D’Alessio

I have been working with mixed media—collage and have been an SLMM member since the early 1980s.

Janaia Donaldson

I love combining images from quantum physics to tribal art, from natural forms to crop circles.

Eileen Downes

My layered collages are imbued with visual metaphor; something other than the tangible lives within my artwork.

Linda C. Dumas

I begin with the germ of an idea — a color, pattern, background — and wait for the art to tell me how to finish. I sometimes fail myself, but the art never fails me if I listen to it.

Nancy Dunaway

I think art making is a dialogue between me and the work. I put something down, it tells me where to go next. I try to listen.

Leslie Ebert

Light Signatures—Painterly Macro Photography Dye Infused into Aluminum.
Capturing the energy of creation in action.

Jaleh Etemad

With my work, I gather inspiration from books, dreams, or unexpected emotions.
My motivation is not only getting in touch with my feelings, but also creating thought-provoking pieces for the viewer.

Judi Foster

In my paintings, I project the spirit and energy of the American Southwest. I also allow my under painting to dictate the final result. Veils of color and texture, both transparent and opaque create a mood — a feeling of place and space. By expressing my mind, I hope to connect my feelings with those of the viewer in an emotional manner. Through my work I reflect my perception of life.

Catherine Fraser

I paint from the outside in and the inside out outdoors in nature and from my imagination in the studio. With my nursing background, I am interested in the topic of health care and art. I practice as an art therapist in private practice and work artistically in my studio in a variety of mediums. One of my artistic methods is to encapsulate experience by painting in a series.

Ilena Grayson

My multi media sculptural forms explore our link with the etheral world through animal forms and iconic figures.

Lana L. Grow

I enjoy creating depth and texture by combining large brush stokes of color with collage techniques, then remove elements to reveal the surfaces below. Often I work intuitively allowing my inner computer to work in an automatic response. I enjoy the adding and removing layers as I am creating a finished piece.

Marlene Zander Gutierrez

Alice Harrison

Pamela Walker Hart

Energetic lines and marks in my work symbolize the perpetual omni–action of Mind.

Ann B. Hartley

Nadia Hlibka

Myths, symbols, and legends of various cultures, sometimes referring to specific historic occurrences interwoven with modern issues, are important elements in my work. I am fascinated with the effects of time on artifacts, people, events and experiences.

Elaine Insero

My work is spontaneous, intuitive, and always experimental. Each piece is a new adventure. What may begin with realism eventually becomes something I have never seen before.

Ann Johnston

Dušanka Kralj

Lynne Kroll

My art invites personal reflection exploring the interconnectedness of
nature, life, spirit and time. I invite you to take this magical journey
With me.

Ara Leites

My goal as a painter is to bring all that I have become into visual existence using acquired artistic knowledge and intuition to develop a concept of reality.

Shirley Eley Nachtrieb

My artwork is earthy, organic and multimedia. I enjoy painting from nature then interpreting my images into collages using textures. I work experimentally, painting positive and negative shapes, and adding embellishments. I paint vivid watermedia portraits and flowers and am always looking for a way to interpret what I see in a more creative way.

Mary Carroll Nelson

My preoccupation has been to study and express the multidimensional nature of the world we experience.

Jean Nevin

Underlying all my imagery is my strong belief in the interconnectedness of all things and our need to reach out to one another and embrace our common humanity and our common home.

I love touching, tearing and gluing paper. I am a collage artist. Life is a collage. It’s layered, textured and complex.

Merry G. Norris

My focus is on art as a spiritual expression. My goals are to continue my unfolding through art and to help others bring art into play on their spiritual journeys.

Jane E. Peterman

My paintings concentrate on feminine strengths: loyalty, care, the holding of family and society, strength of purpose, guiding from behind, gratitude. My questions include how are people alike and how are they different; where do we fit in the cosmos?

Isabella Pizzano

The way I work reflects the way I feel about the philosophy of life; all colors are layered, occasionally introducing collage, each passage is a new exciting experience and I do not know where it will take me next.
I do not plan my paintings, they have to surprise me on each stage of progression. They overtake me as a natural force! My hope is that the use of a variety of forms and brilliancy of color in my work will establish an emotional communication with the viewer.

Terry Gay Puckett

Creating art is my way to interact, share, and complete a major part of my destiny.
I want to capture the passing moment, and saturate my work with the colors and textures of my surroundings.

Barbara Ragalyi

My art embodies the music, harmony, and mystery of the Universe, the underlying energy of our world, the music of being within all things, creating a peaceful, harmonious space wherein one can experience silence, still–point, and oneness with all.

Win Ratz

"All Paths Lead Home", we all return to the loving source of all life.

Annemarie Rawlinson

Nancy Richards–Davis

Through the layering of pigmented beeswax(encaustic), oil and collage, I articulate a continual journey that seeks to reveal an idea, a memory, a truth.
A spiritual connection forms between each layer as the painting becomes a living organism which mines the uncharted, nonverbal areas of my life experience.

Allyson Rickard

Creating art is a healing and spiritual experience for me. I love to travel to sacred sites all over the world "capturing" the essence or energy of the sites using a variety of media, including photography, painting, collage, altered books and woven necklaces. I use the media and materials as metaphors to trigger the psyche, personal and collective.

Janet Hull Ruffin

Janet is a poet who paints stories of spirituality, psychology, healing, the unknown and unlimited possibilities. Instead of words, she uses layers of painted paper, photographs, sometimes found objects, and paint on canvas. You are invited to step into her stories.

Helenn Rumpel

What do I do that I love? I create… constantly, consistently and creatively.
I strive to realize my dreams, often portraying them in my art with hard work & devotion, looking above for guidance. Color—intensity—texture—vitality—these are my friends.

Lydia Ruyle

Art and the Ancient Mothers call me on a journey. Art is my soul language.
I create because I must.

Jan Sitts

Embedded stones in earthen layers enrich & reveal mysteries....
as do the artists’ painted layers in time.

I paint or collage in layers and between the layers. I insert prayers, blessings and names.
I feel that this adds positive spiritual energy to the Universal dialogue that is forever taking place.

Hilda Volkin

Margaret B Watts

"My paintings are improvisational tempered by decreasing realism. I draw my compositions with a permanent marker forming the core of the piece then transferring to the substrate. I paint with mixed water media on paper, canvas, board, wood, tar paper, and linoleum in multiple layers. Sanding between the layers reveals interactions of line, color, shape, and texture. I apply watermedia texture by knife, throwing, pouring, and/or stamping. Although my palette changes as I experiment, warm colors predominate; red is my favorite color. My travels and life experiences form the backdrop and intuition gives final enhancements."
