Interesting concept and it sounds fun. Maybe it would get me going earlier in the morning but one of the things I most love about retirement is my quiet NON-RUSH MORNING! I rushed around every single morning for over 40 years. My quiet morning with a cup of tea is my true luxury of pampering myself! :D. Then my chat with YOU gets my brain working and then I'm ready for the day. :D.

In answer to your last question, Liz: EVERY time I bring up any of these topics with my husband, who is also an artist although he is not actively working on his art in retirement, his automatic and consistent answer is, "WHO are you making the art for? It should always be for YOU!" So, although I actively show (approximately 12-15 gallery shows a year), I have ceased to worry about whether I sell any art and am always hugely surprised when it does happen! It THRILLS me when one of my pieces actually CONNECTS with another person, touches their spirit in a way that they feel they HAVE to have it in their home. But it has ceased to be a concern or even a brief thought in my mind when I start a new piece. My focus is always totally on my work. It has been a long journey to get to this point, to get past whether people like my art or not, whether it will sell or not, whether it is good or not................AND I'm blessed with a retirement income that allows me the freedom to live this way, to create with freedom, to focus just on my art, and to feel it is the one place, the one time, the MOMENT that I am truly myself. I am blessed.

We are just so pleased that you wanted to be on the Board! You will bring such energy, experience and great ideas to help us move forward with strong connections to the past and future! So THANK YOU for giving of yourself and your time for SLMM! HUGS my friend! Jo

Great photo of today's weekly zoom group! Terri was explaining her sketchbook idea, NOT trying to hide! So glad Mary got in on the photo!
